Long Island Four-Year Institutions and SoLII

Here is a collection of links to four-year colleges and universities on Long Island that have extensive programs in the fields of computer science, engineering, and mathematics. The institutions marked with the double asterisks (**) are associated with Suffolk's Stay on Long Island Initiative (SoLII), which offers our qualified students significant scholarships.

**Adelphi
    University


Adelphi is a small private liberal arts college located in Garden City. The university offers particulary good programs in mathematics, mathematics education, computer science and information technology.
**C.W. Post

Long Island University, C. W. Post College is located on Route 25A in Brookville. It has a College of Information and Computer Science and a solid math department.
**Dowling
    College


Dowling is located in Oakdale, not far from our Ammerman Campus, and is very welcoming to our students. The college offers four-year programs in math and computer science.
**Hofstra
    University


Hofstra is a private institution located in Nassau County, not far from Roosevelt Field. The university offers complete high quality programs in all areas of science, engineering, and technology.
**New York
    Institute
    of
    Technology


NYIT is a global private institution with local campuses in Central Islip, on Carlton Avenue, Old Westbury, just north of the expressway, and in Manhattan on Broadway near Columbus Circle. The college has many strong career-oriented professional programs and encourages and supports applications-oriented research. NYIT has campuses in Canada, Bahrain, Jordan, The United Arab Emerites, and China.
**Polytechnic
    University


Polytechnic University, formerly Brooklyn Poly, maintains its main campus in Brooklyn, and is an excellent technical university with solid math, computer science, and engineering programs. Our best students have a good chance at significant financial aid at Poly. However, the Long Island campus, located in Farmingdale, offers graduate study only.
**Saint
    Joseph's
    College


Saint Joseph's in Patchogue offers programs in information technology. This college is geared primarily for preparation of public school teachers and is ideal for math majors seeking to complete New York State Certification.
SUNY at Stony Brook

Not part of the SoLII program, but one of the premier technical university in the New York State sytem, with excellent math, computer science, and engineering programs. Suffolk has articulation agreements with Stony Brook that make it particularly easy for solid students to transfer there.
