CDC Classroom Discussion Group

If you are interested in becoming a Chemical Dependency Counselor, or working in any area of counseling or human services, consider enrolling at Suffolk County Community College.

A Chemical Dependency Counselor provides therapy and treatment for those in recovery from addiction.  They work in a variety of settings, including outpatient and inpatient clinics.  This is a demanding career for those who wish to be of service to others.  This skill is also in demand for practitioners in related health fields such as nursing, social work, and some areas of education.

 Here's why:

Our CDC program meets all of the education and internship requirements for the New York State credential in alcohol and substance abuse counseling.

Our CDC program is the only one on Long Island that offers fully transferable college credits, that leads to a college degree, and that allows students to transfer their credits directly to selected four-year colleges.

If you are interested in a career in Chemical Dependency Counseling or any other area of counseling, your A.A.S. degree or certificate of completion in Chemical Dependency Counseling from SCCC will prepare you for immediate employment upon graduation. Many of our graduates are now working in the field, earning money, and gaining valuable experience while they continue their education.
