Elaine Preston is the author of a poetry collection, Look for a Field to Land (Bridge Works Publishing) and a poetry workbook, Fishing Underground: A Poet's Guide to Creating, Publishing, and Beyond (H. & H. Press).  Professor Preston's poems have been published in numerous national journals, including College English, Confrontation, New York Quarterly, LI Quarterly, Passager, The Journal of Poetry Therapy, The Tampa Review, as well as included in such anthologies as Always the Beautiful Answer: A Prose Poem Primer (Kings Estate Press) and The Light of City and Sea: An Anthology of Suffolk County Poetry 2006 (ed. Dan Moran, Suffolk County Poet Laureate/Street Press).

even now, fish
could be swimming
upstream under the desert
and the wilderness swelling
