This past spring we were proud to have instructor Donna Geffen and her family featured in Family Circle magazine about their decision to receive cochlear implants. Donna is deaf and teaches ASL I (SL10) and II (SL14) at SCCC. In addition, she supervises grading and evaluation for the ASL placement examinations, teaches ASL courses for the New York State Educational Interpreters K-12 grant project and at St. David's Church in Seaford, and substitutes at East Meadow School District.  Donna has an AAS in Medical Laboratory Technology. For years she was actively involved in the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and is currently a member of the American Sign Language Teacher's Association (ASLTA).

"I enjoy observing my students' signing skills. I am proud to see them learning    the signs I teach. It's very gratifying to know they are enjoying the experience and are happy to sign."
