Sallie Bruno is not only an instructor at SCCC, but also the Long Island regional represen-tative for the NYS K-12 Educational Interpreters Grant Project. She acts as a mentor to new interpreters, and develops and teaches training modules to help prepare educational interpreters for future mandatory testing.   She was invited to be in the first cadre of interpreter trainers invited to study with Betty Colonomos. Sallie received extensive training in the Integrated Process Model (Colonomos Model) of interpreting and in Vygotskyan-Based Process MediationSallie is an alumnus of SCCC with an AAS in Liberal Arts. She has extensive training in the VISTA curriculum Levels 1-2, and has taught ASL1-4, Fingerspelling, and various interpreting courses at SCCC. She has studied interpreting at Gallaudet University, and English and pedagogy at Stony Brook University. Sallie is an RID nationally certified interpreter, affiliated with RID, NAD, ASLTA, CIT, MetroRID. She is the Region I delegate for EDITOR.  

 
"Looking at this display and knowing that I've had a small part in the education of three  members of the program gives me a sense of pride and accomplish-ment. I love the fact that my students become my interpreting colleagues.  Teaching allows me to give to the next generation; I hope it's a tradition they will continue."
