Prior to coming to Suffolk, Professor Star held positions at Hofstra and Temple Universities.  He has taught courses in the anthropology and aesthetics of visual communication, in film analysis, history and production, as well as in television studio and video field production. 

He is a recipient of the college’s Distinguished Faculty Award and of the New York State Public Television Award for his innovative teaching. He is also a former Assistant Chair of this department. Professor Star teaches courses in Cinema Studies and production.
