Dr. Zhang received my her Ph.D in Communication and Rhetoric
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before that she earned two Masters Degrees: one in Communications and another in Linguistics and Teaching Methodology. For her BA degree she majored in English and
minored in Chinese.

She has been teaching fulltime or as an adjunct since 1984 when she was studying for her first Master’s degree,

Courses she has taught range from various communication courses such as Introduction to Human Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Intercultural Communication. She has also taught Expository Writing, College English and Chinese.

She has recently developed an online course in Intercultural Communications offered through the SUNY Learning Network,

According to her “When I daydream about all the free time I will have somewhere in the future, I have not decided whether I will commit myself to the writing of a literary book or earn another doctorate in comparative literature.”

Next to reading she enjoys cooking, but what she finds most satisfying is "being a mother and a daughter."
