Teaching at Suffolk Community College since 2000, Edie MacPherson earned her B.A. in Communication with an emphasis in journalism from Olivet Nazarene University. She received her M.A. in Communication with an emphasis in rhetorical criticism from Wichita State University.

Before moving to Long Island, she served as Senior Editor for the Addiction Technology Transfer Center at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and then as Assistant Editor for Nazarene Youth International Ministries.

She has also taught in Communication at Wichita State University and Rockhurst College.

She and her husband are the proud parents of two young children.
