The Suffolk County Community College Philosophy Department Spring Conference is an annual tradition. Beginning in 1997 with a tribute to Marx Wartofsky -- which featured Joseph Margolis and Carol Gould -- the yearly event has grown to include major American and internationally renown scholars on a wide variety of themes in ethics, feminism, philosophy of mind, metaphysics, psychoanalysis and aesthetics. Our distinguished guests have included Mary Mothersill, Virginia Held, Eddy Zemach, Zvi Lothane, Edward Erwin, among others. The goal is to provide a forum for leading philosophers, and those in related disciplines, to present their latest thinking in a critical but open atmosphere. The Conference welcomes, and attracts, professionals, students and community members from Long Island and the entire New York metropolitan area. Erudition abounds -- and a good time, and good fun, is had by all.
