Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)

Purpose

The Science and Technology Entry Program develops the abilities and skills of students to prepare them for entry in careers in math, science, technology and the licensed professions. Step is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department.


Service

  • 12 Saturday enrichment sessions at SCCC
    • Three (3) classes each Saturday
      • Science and science research (biology, physics, earth science, engineering, robotics, nursing/allied health)
      • Math
      • Communication skills
      • Leadership
      • Computer applications
      • Career awareness
  • Research program
  • School-based "club" meetings
  • Parents' Advocacy Group

Target Population

STEP serves underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in selected school districts, grades 7-12.

Brentwood, Central Islip, Longwood, Riverhead and South Country
